The City of Detroit’s General Services Department and its Park and Recreation Division are responsible for security, maintenance and planning of the city-owned parks, including Belden Santa Maria Park. UDCA is the Park Steward for Belden Santa Maria Park, through an Adopt A Park program managed by the Detroit Parks Coalition.
In May, the Park Architect (Farhat Chaudhry) completed the layout plan and ordered play equipment from the City of Detroit supplier, with input on color schemes for the playset from the UDCA Board.
In her update, Ms. Chaudhry noted that she will have a specific start date when she has a production timeline and delivery confirmation date from the manufacturer of the playground equipment. Improvements and upgrades in benches, picnic tables and swings are also planned. The City will post signage at the park, when the start and end dates for construction are confirmed.
