Opening remarks from Luke Gunn – UDCA Board President

  • Palmer Park Preparatory Academy (P3) has been closed for building issues
    • April 24 @ 16647 Livernois – meeting to discuss the issues
    • Superintendent Vitti will be in attendance
  • The UDCA Board’s focus this year is getting more people to volunteer
  • Possibly closing Palmer Park Golf Course – Luke is passionate about this issue and will keep the neighborhood informed.
  • Treasurer’s report was shared
  • Wants to work on a Dog Ownership workshop for the neighborhood
  • July 14 – new resident meet & greet

Live 6 Alliance

DWSD presentation – Terrence M. Hicks

  • Want to be seen as a community partner – not just a place to pay your water bill
  • New payment platforms
  • detroitmi.gov/dwsdparcelviewer
    • Can use this site to view what the city considers impervious and pervious areas and apply for an adjustment
    • Note: I checked the site and it wasn’t working – I messaged DWSD to let them know.
  • Beginning in July 18 – discounts for disconnected downspouts, rain barrels, toilet replacement and more.
  • Kim Tandy: Gary Brown (DWSD) is looking into dual meter system for Detroit and District 2 could be an early test area for this.

    • Resource for District 2 – can go in/call and voice concerns
  • Townhall meeting – April 10 – Tindall Rec Center (10301 W. 7 mile)
    • City of Detroit budget team will be there to explain how the city’s budget works
  • April 26 – District 2 blood drive
  • June 19 – City Council Forum
    • NW activity center
    • 7-8:30pm
    • Every city council member will be in attendance

Volunteer update

  • UDCA needs volunteers – volunteer as much or as little as you’d like
  • Want to volunteer but don’t know what is needed? Email Volunteers@udca.info and we’ll chat with you about your skills and how they can be applied
  • Really looking for help with:
    • Senior committee – helping give back to and connect the seniors in our community
    • Garage sale – need someone to spearhead our annual garage sale

  • Also looking for volunteers for docents, etc.
